Family Mediation

Welcome to Leonard Gray Mediation Website.  We hope this website is user-friendly and clear.  If you have any comments or queries, please do not hesitate to telephone or email our Mediation Co-Ordinator, Jo Walker, on 01245 264764 or jwalker@leonardgray.co.uk.

We hope that this website will inform you about mediation, its potential benefits and how this may help your family.  You will also be able to make contact with us for more information or complete a Mediation Referral Application online using the above link.

Please feel free to explore this website using the above links to access our Resource Centre, Mediation Team, the online Referral Form, some Case Studies, previous clients comments about the service, and to contact us if you decide to proceed.

Please remember that the benefits of Family Mediation include:-

1. QUICKER – a potentially much swifter resolution of issues between you, i.e. if you have had an issue concerning financial or property matters, this may take a year or 18 months to progress through the Courts.  Mediation on average will take about one or two months.

2. CHEAPER – a mediation process is potentially much cheaper.  Typical legal fees for a contested matter involving perhaps finances and property can be in the region of £10,000-£15,000 per party (potentially £20,000-£30,000 from your family’s “pot”).  If you are successful in mediation (and we do have very high success rates) then the fees will be a matter of a few hundred pounds if you pay for your sessions or totally free to you under current Legal Aid Regulations if you qualify.

3. MORE DIGNIFIED – you retain control.  If you have children, you will be their parents for the whole of your lives.  It is likely you will meet your ex partner at weddings, funerals and christenings.  It is best for all concerned if you can reach an agreed settlement of issues between you so that when you meet again in the future, matters are not strained or awkward.  Most people prefer to reach their own agreements than have these imposed upon them by a third party such as a Judge.

We hope our website is helpful to you and if you agree mediation may be a way forward for your family and you, then please make contact with us.  You can have a free information session with or without your partner whether or not you qualify for Legal Aid.

Thank you for reading this page and we look forward to meeting with you if appropriate.
